Thyste's stunted eco system no longer supports life beyond algae, lichen, and simple plants, due to its ever increasing amounts of radiation as it slowly spirals toward its systems sun. A collection of cities dot the surface, though long abandoned, some of its better shielded solar powered lights and machines are still active.

This one was rather fun to make, ive been trying to think up how i wanted to present a planet with ruins of a civilization on it, tell me how you think it came out

I like the flares. If you wanted to do so, could you make a planet with rings?

Would this be a planet afflicted by tidal lock? If it's a planet being pulled in by a red star (which I think is most likely), it would be very likely that you would have a more lush ecosystem on the hemisphere not facing the star, however it would consist of extremophile organisms, who can can survive independent of that particular sun, and the cold (it would be several degrees colder than on the locked side of a planet.) Photosynthetic organisms could exist (such as the autotrophs you mentioned), however they would have to have some sort of protection against the eternal sunshine and heat.

Tell me some more about this planet. I'm just throwing out ideas from what I see.

i suppose there may be some organisms more resistant to the radiation presented from its solar proximity; especially near the tidal lock equator which maintains a more habitable temperature than either its hot and cold polls. maybe some of the buildings still have radiation shielding providing habitats for limited mini eco systems. but with an ocean and atmosphere with those intense temperature differences, wouldn't that result in harsh planet wide storms?

True; it would definitely make more sense that way. In a way, if it was too bound to tidal lock there might be a "run away greenhouse" effect.

This is awsome! Purple ocean? And what's the purple stuff around the planet?

oh, and as far as the purple ocean, there are some species of algae that would result is a purple to red colored ocean
